ALCO GUARD
Crack Sealant

DESCRIPTION 
ALCO GUARD Crack Sealant is a high performance, polymer modified, asphalt emulsion horizontal joint and crack sealant. It is one component, which can be applied directly from its shipping container, without heating or mixing, into an opening 1/8” to 1” wide. After fully cured, the product will remain flexible at cold temperatures and will not flow at high temperatures.

USE
ALCO GUARD is great for small, medium or large scale sealing projects on parking lots, highways, street maintenance, driveways, airport aprons and runways. It can be used in sealing asphalt or concrete surfaces.

PREPARATION
The joints and cracks to be sealed must be clean. Dust, dirt and laitance should be removed prior to application. Routing should be slightly larger than existing crack/joint to ensure proper adhesion to side walls. For ideal sealing with maximum effectiveness, it is suggested that cracks or joints should be routed out to provide a sealant reservoir ½” wide x ½” deep, providing a 1:1 ratio of width and depth. To control and maintain suggested joint depth and width, a backer rod may be installed in the joint opening.

APPLICATION
Stir ALCO GUARD to a uniform consistency. ALCO GUARD should be applied into joint/crack, slightly overfilling. Product may be poured from the container or a commercial sealing pot equipped with a narrow pouring spout and shut-off valve. At 75° F. and 50% humidity, a typical joint of ½” x ½ becomes tack-free in two hours or less. Color is black when cured.

LIMITATIONS
· PROTECT FROM FREEZING
· Do not store in temperatures over 90° F
· Do not apply with rain in the forecast
· Do not apply when air, material and surface temperatures fall below 50° F. within 8 hours of completed application
· Not recommended for sealing cracks and joints in tennis courts

CLEAN UP
Immediately after use, flush equipment with water. Dried ALCO GUARD can be removed with kerosene, mineral spirits or fuel oil.
