Asphalt: The International Agency for Research on
Cancer (IARC) has determined that there is
sufficient evidence for the
carcinogenicity of extracts of steam-refined bitumens, air-refined
bitumens and pooled mixtures of
steam- and air-refined bitumens in experimental animals.
Possible skin cancer hazard based
on tests with laboratory animals. This product may contain
polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons,
some of which may be types that have been shown to cause skin
cancer in laboratory animals. This
product has not been tested as a whole for all potential health
effects. It may have other health hazards
related to its components. Skin contact, breathing of mists,
fumes or vapors should be reduced to a minimum to avoid any ill
effects. Chronic health effects
